Principal's Message-Mensaje de la Directora

Dear Melbourne Elementary Community,
I am thrilled to be writing to you today to introduce myself as the Principal of Melbourne Elementary. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead Melbourne as we move into the 2024-2025 school year. It is my privilege to lead alongside a dedicated staff at a school that strives for excellence in education. I am looking forward to meeting with staff, students, and families of the Melbourne community to listen to your ideas and vision for our school.
I have 18 years of experience in education as both a teacher and administrator in both private and public schools. For the last nine years, I have worked at ABC Unified in different capacities, most recently as the Interim Principal at Nixon Academy. Prior to my role at Nixon, I served in the Child Development department, as the lead administrator of the Head Start/Child Development program, as an Assistant to the Principal at Bragg Elementary School, as well as taught 6th, 3rd, 1st, TK and preschool aged students. With my background in Early Childhood Development and Elementary Education, I am excited to lead at the elementary school level. I understand the perspective of a parent, the value of high standards in delivering rich learning experiences, and the importance of these foundational years in our students’ lives.
On a personal note, my husband and I have been together for over thirty years. We have three college aged children, and three dogs that keep us very busy, and we enjoy spending time with our extended families and friends.
I am dedicated to serving as an educational leader at Melbourne Elementary, and to working with you all as a partner in education to ensure our students’ success.

Estimada comunidad de la Escuela Melbourne:
Es un honor escribirles hoy para presentarme como la nueva directora de la escuela primaria Melbourne para el año escolar 2024-2025. Es un privilegio trabajar junto a un personal tan dedicado en una escuela que se esfuerza por lograr la excelencia en la educación de sus hijos. Tendré gran gusto de reunirme con el personal, los estudiantes y las familias de la comunidad de Melbourne para escuchar sus ideas y visión para nuestra escuela.
Tengo 18 años de experiencia en educación como maestra y administradora en escuelas públicas y privadas. Durante los últimos nueve años, he trabajado en el Distrito ABC en diferentes capacidades, más recientemente como directora interina en la Escuela Nixon. Antes de ocupar mi puesto en Nixon, trabajé en el departamento de Desarrollo Infantil, como administradora del Programa Head Start/Desarrollo Infantil, también fui asistente del director en la Escuela Primaria Bragg, y también he sido maestra de 6º, 3º, 1º, Kinder Transicional (TK) y de estudiantes en edad preescolar. Estoy segura que mi experiencia, me ayudará en este nivel de escuela primaria. Entiendo la perspectiva de los padres, valoro las altas expectativas, el poder brindar buenas experiencias de aprendizaje, y la importancia de estos años fundamentales en la vida de nuestros estudiantes.
Un poco de información personal, mi marido y yo llevamos juntos más de treinta años. Tenemos tres hijos en edad universitaria y tres perros que nos mantienen muy ocupados y disfrutamos pasar tiempo con nuestros familiares y amigos.
Estoy comprometida a servir como la directora de Melbourne Elementary y a trabajar con todos ustedes en equipo para garantizar el éxito académico de nuestros estudiantes.
